Windows Problem

Help. 1) no matter how many times I choose the option to view folders as "Details" and then click the option that says all folders will open this way...it always reverts to large icons for some folders and other views in other folders.

2) My tray in lower right hand corner used to collapse by itself. For some reason this feature (as well as the quick launch bar, turned itself off after I did a virus scan. I chose the "hide when not in use" option but it seems to ignore it.

tks,

You might try this fix from kellys-korner. Scroll down to line 30, Windows XP Doesn't Save User Settings. Instructions to run Regedits at top of web page.

Are you using SP2?  I have the same problem with SP2 even with the registry setting set to 8,000 folders, and have tried XP Corner thing with no luck. I think It may be the fact that I have 2 large USB drives connected and when I power them up it takes the folders settings way over the 8,000 limit. Xp is starting to out live its usefullness..
