restored to factory settings by accident!
hi
my inspiron 1521 had a start up issue and went to the start up failier fault page. unfortunatly some one who will remain name less (wife) clicked on the restore to factory settings icon, so we've lost everything from word and exel programs to all photos and home movies,
is there any thing i can do to restore any of the missing items???

Probably not. You can try one of the recovery programs such as the free "Recuva" www.recuva.com in case something can be recovered.
This is a good lesson on making periodic backups, to some other external device such as a hard drive. Backups are not for "if" they are needed, they are for "WHEN" they are needed. I use Acronis Trume Image backup software and make complete backups of my hard drive (all partitions) to an external hard drive. If anything would happen, such as what happened to you, the hard drive can be restored to the last backup in about an hour.
