Win Client Won't install.

Question Win Client Won't install.

Hi. I downloaded the windows client for pocketcloud. - PocketCloudWindowsCompanion_v2.1.14.exe

When I try to run it I always get the same error, windows tells me it crashed and then this message pops up:

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I've tried running the program as admin and with various compatibility modes but no luck. It says the same thing every time.

Any ideas?

I would really like to get this software working!

Thanks

*Edit:

So I'm guessing it is detecting it as a security threat?

Help please?

Thank you for the quick reply.

I am using Avira Antivir Free antivirus, and with the Antivir Guard disabled the problem still occurs.

I get this error as soon as I launch the installer.

I double click on the exe.
I window comes up saying:
"Setup Launcher Unicode has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
->check online for a solution and close program

We apologize for the problem you are facing with companion. We could not simulate this issue in our environment. Can you please give us some information.

1. It could be the antivirus blocking some module to execute. Can you let us know the anti-virus details on your machine?
2. Are you getting this error when you run the installer or after the installation? Do you see the Finish button after installation?

Hi Snake man can you please look at your task manager, kill any pocketcloud process running . please monitor your memory ,cpu usage as well.
Install again. Did you have any previous version of pocketcloud running prior to this install.

There were other users reporting this issue( in web) due to windows defender from Microsoft. Can we try doing the following?

1. Go to control panel->Windows Defender
2. Try stopping the defender and running the installer?
3. If this did not work can you send me the defender version you are having?

Do you have the latest Service Pack of Windows 7 ?

I checked and if I went to windows defender, it said it was off and would I like to turn it on.
I have the latest windows 7 updates, including the service pack, yes.
So I uninstalled my antivirus, enabled windows defender and tried to install the pocket cloud client again, and it did the same thing. I updated windows defender, same thing.
I then disabled windows deffender so that I had absolutely no antivirus software. Just windows firewall. Still won't install. I even turned off the firewall too, just in case and it still didn't install.
Then I put my antivirus back on.

No. I have never installed it.

Tried it from fresh, so it wouldn't have had a previous instance running in the background.

Thanks for your suggestions though.

I appreciate you trying to help

Can you verify whether any logs are created in "C:\Windows\Temp" folder. This log is created by windows installer and will start with MSI, for eg: MSI1a12.log. We are not sure of the name as it is generated randomly by Microsoft, so can you look up using the time the issue happend. You can email the logs to iossupport@wyse.com and please mention Attention "Sarun/Chris Klotz" .

We could not simulate this issue in our environment and appreciate the support you are providing us. If the above step did not work, we will try to send you a debug version of installer to get more insight to the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't find that file.
It may crash before it gets to making one.
I found the folder and the other files associated with other programs that installed/had trouble installing, but there is nothing corresponding to the dates that I tried to install your program and indeed going through them, they all say what they are for and they are for other programs.
Also, it doesn't create a new one when I run the installer again.

Sure, I would be happy to try your debug version.
