4k scaling gpu vs display

Ok. I have an interesting question... QN43Q60TA
Also Dell XPS 8930 series
Intel Core i5-9400 6 core processor
32gb DDR4 RAM
Zotac Geforce GTX 1070 mini 8gb GDDR5 RAM. HDMI 2.0b
So!!!!
I can run the native 4k resolution with 60hz. Which is great.
I read somewhere (super quickly) about running in 1080p 60hz and letting the TV do the upscaling versus my graphics card..

Is the "splitting the difference" logical? Is that better for visual? I know it would be for performance... but what are the Cons? Pros?

Thank you all to the wise!!!!

I would agree that running 1080p at 60 Hz would get better performance, but I don't know a reason why sending a signal of lesser information, quality, and resolution would be an improvement visually.

OK, that is what's happening. but, I'm actually able to run Hitman 2 the newest version of it. maxed out graphics in 4k with all the fancy stuff set to "on" as well.. its great! so, with further research i'm only bottle-necked at my CPU now.
