XPS 8930, add Samsung 970 EVO SSD, 3rd drive
I have replied to a few posts here where people were doing something similar, but figured I would ask about my own specific situation. I currently have a 256Gb boot drive and 2TB spinner. Everything works fine and speedy, but I am just out of space. So I bought a Samsung 970 EVO SSD to add as a 3rd drive. I would like to add it using this adapter: https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B079546NPR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have a few questions: 1) Will this adapter work with this drive in this computer? 2) Will I get the full 3,500/2,500 MB/s throughput of the drive in this configuration? 3) Does it matter which slot I put the adapter card into (or just select any physically compatible slot)? Thanks! Dell XPS 8930 Intel Core i7 256GB M.2 PCIe x4 256Gb SSD + 2TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive 16GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2666MHz (2X8GB) GRPHC, NV GTX1060

I've responded to a few other similar threads, but figured I would post my own situation. I have an XPS 8930 with a 256GB SSD boot drive and 2TB spinner data drive. All is well and fast, but I am out of space. I want to add a new Samsung 970 EVO SSD as a 3rd drive (preferable not replacing the current SSD which is fine). So I bought an adapter (https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B079546NPR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) hoping to find an empty compatible slot when I open the box. I have questions...
1) Will this adapter work for this drive in this computer?
2) Will I get the full 3500/2500 speed out of it?
3) Am I correct that a SATA adapter will not give me that speed?
4) I bought a 2TB SSD drive, but my Dell specifications page says it is limited to 1TB??? Specs from Dell.com:
Thanks!
