XPS 8940, can't install Java on Windows 10
Hi,
I'm Using a new XPS 8940 with Windows 10. I install a few software and it went well. But when I tried to install Java of Oracle there was no reaction.
I clicked on the file of Java to install it UAC opened, I choose yes to allow it .The UAC windows closed and nothing happen, no window of starting the installation process no error message ( like I never press it to install).
I tried to do it with "run it as administrator" the same result.
I downloaded the offline software and tried to install it. the same result.
I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. The same result.
Can anyone tell me what should I do? Or why it's happen?
Also there is no reaction when I try to install webex plugin.
Thanks in advanced
Meir

This web page may help. And this guide as well. However after you downloaded the setup file did you disconnect from the Internet before running it as suggested in the last link I posted?

You must manually download the Offline installer then Run As administrator.
Please press the blue Accept as Solution button at the bottom if this answers your question.

Try an alternate installer.
Go to https://ninite.com/
Choose Java or any other applications and click on Get your Ninite
Now the installer runs though their API.

Alternate Installers from 3rd parties are NEVER Recommended.

NINITE is reputed company and many organizations use it to deploy applications. Free version only lets you install the application on their homepage.
Plus OP has tried offline and online installers both, "Nothing happens when he runs the installer"
@meirbit Give NINITE a try that should fix the issue

@speedstep An application working fine on your machine doesn't mean it will work fine every computer out there
and please stop Defaming a good company you know nothing about. Google Ninite and do some research, thousand of users visit Dell forum and this comment of yours would be noticed by them.
Read what OP has said
I tried to do it with "run it as administrator" the same result.

I @speedstep completely disagree because I tried the current offline installer run as administrator and it works fine.
3rd party installers, drivers, files from vendors OTHER THAN the original vendor being Oracle in this case are NEVER recommended.
NINTEX is neither Microsoft or Oracle and is not authorized to distribute or otherwise install API's like Java on ANY version of windows.
Nintex installers are a Potentially Unwanted Program that installs begware and captures user PII like email addresses and other user specific information.

I @speedstep disagree entirely with the assertion that I am defaming anyone or know nothing about 3rd party vs OEM or vendor installs of Java.
There is no call to be disrespectful.
"Supreme Court decision that holds that an expression of opinion or known fact cannot be the basis of a defamation action. Gertz v. Robert Welch, Inc., (1974) 418 U.S. 323, 339."
IMHO I believe that both Oracle and Microsoft would agree with me about 3rd party installers, drivers, software not certified by WHQL or Oracle.
I regularly do support for thousands of enterprise users that use oracle and java software.
My basis for my statements is based on that support.

@XPS_Man Speesteps is calling it NINTEX,I think he got it confused with something else.
i think that's different, though I didn't find anything through a google search. though
Just wanted to pitch in, I have used Ninite a lot when I used to work as tech support (not dell) Ninite makes it very easy to install Dozens of application in one go. I remember having a pro subscription for it.
And who uses Java these days ??

Webex also requires an offline installer.
Its quite large and takes several minutes to download depending on ISP.

Nintex is 3rd party and collects information via visits to their site. I am not confused at all. Ninite is also a 3rd party site not authorized to distribute Microsoft or Oracle software.
Email is used for Ninite account notifications.
(They collect this first)
Ninite says they don't spam or sell email addresses
(Note how Ninite declines to say they don't give email addresses away for free to affilates)
All the apps in Ninite's directory are user-requested and useful. (again they require a user account)
Some Ninite apps are tagged with a Ninite affiliate key.
Ninite receives a commission when users upgrade those apps. So getting you to BUY things is how they make money with their "free" stuff.
After installing apps non-identifying diagnostic information (OS version, language, machine architecture, failure status of installers) is reported back to Ninite so we can improve reliability.
Most 3rd party sites use cookies and other user identifyable things via Google Analytics.
Use of Cookies may be necessary to provide certain features, and choosing to reject browser cookies may reduce the functionality of the site or services. If you disable essential Cookies, functions that will likewise be disabled include, among other things: the ability to log in, the ability to download materials and products, the ability to use single sign on to access the partner portals. If you disable non-essential Cookies, the site and services should still operate overall, but certain content-based aspects of the services may not work properly. In addition, turning off your browser’s cookies will prevent cookies from measuring the relevance and effectiveness of our services, e-mails, and advertising.
3rd party site contains links to other websites, including those of afilliates / partners, whose information practices may be different from the site where you downloaded the "FREE" software installer. Visitors should consult those other third party websites’ privacy notices, since those websites are not covered by this Privacy Policy and may follow different procedures.

Oracle Database has a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that resides in the server. It helps Java applications running in the Oracle JVM on the server to access data present on the same system and same process. Java in the Database is recommended for applications that are data-intensive.
Using java with oracle database
Google also relys on JAVA
Google Analytics is a spyware tool that lets website owners measure how users interact with website content without consent or knowledge that this tracking is going on.
As a user navigates between web pages, Google Analytics uses the JavaScript tags (libraries) to record information about the page a user has seen, for example the URL of the page. The Google Analytics JavaScript libraries use HTTP cookies to "remember" what a user has done on previous pages / interactions with the website as well as track the user back to google and inform other partners and affiliates who this user is.
In my opinion GA tracking software is utterly a security and privacy risk and could be remotely exploited to compromise a system who uses remote javascripts embedded into their webpages. I strongly recommend to avoid giving your precious data to Google or anyone else. Especially free without consent.

Please click the blue Accept as Solution button below if this answers your question.
You have to REMOVE antivirus software not deactivate especially if its Mcafee.
Open admin command prompt and type
systemreset -cleanpc
This will remove all apps but leave your data intact.
Then install Java
Then reinstall your apps.
It will leave an HTML file on the desktop indicating which apps were removed.
There is no support from DELL for Java. You must contact oracle to get support for Java.

That all sounds fine.
However, are you "un-blocking" the installer-file (in Properties) before executing/running ?
Do they give you checksum or MD5 to verify download before trying to use?
