Question : adding second HDD for new Dell XPS 17 2020 laptop / 6cell 97WHR battery
Hi
I've recently received new XPS 17 2020 laptop with 1T SSD
It has 6-Cell Battery, 97WHr (Integrated).
Is it possible to add a second HDD to it ? I read somewhere that certain size battery might block the place needed for second HDD, but when I ordered it, there was no options for different battery sizes,
How easy would it be to change the battery, if possible at all ?

This system will support up to 2 M.2 2280 SSDs. It does not support any internal 2.5" drives, so though it can take two SSDs, it cannot take a hard drive at all.
You will want to remove the base cover and verify that the mounting plate and screw is present for the second drive.
If it's not, you'll need to order the mounting hardware from Dell to install the second M.2 SSD.

I don't quite understand the answer: if it supports 2 HDDs, do I need to call technician to change the battery or not
(in order to have a place for second HDD). Can you clarify, please?

The answer is confusing so I will simplify it for others. Yes you can easily add a second M2 SSD and you do not need to remove or replace the battery with this unit as it only has a 6 cell battery. The question "second HDD" should have said SSD. And the though that you have to replace or remove the battery may have come from watching videos based on the XPS 15's which had the 9 cell battery where you had to replace it with a 6 cell battery to fit a second SSD.

My BIOS is up to date, machine is running well although recently was hit by .DJVU Ransomware. Many files still encrypted and data lost.
I have recently upgraded RAM to 16GB (2 x 8GB).

No -- these systems support only M.2 NVMe drives. There is no internal 2.5" drive support at all.
