Upgrade Intel AC-7260NGFF to AC-9260?

I have a Precision M3800 (same as an XPS15). It has an Intel AC-7260NGFF wireless card.

Can I upgrade that to an Intel AC-9260?

It looks like the same form factor and only uses two antenna.

I just did this exact upgrade in my XPS 15 9530, which is the sister system of the M3800. Worked fine!

Thanks!

Any special drivers I need to use, or will W10 automatically load them?

I was running the latest Intel drivers when I had the 7260 installed, so Windows just reused those for the 9260. Not sure if Windows has native support for it, but just update your drivers in advance and you’ll be good to go. :)

I replaced my troublesome AC-7260 that came with my Dell M3800 like this thread suggests.  I fully corroborate that this was easy in terms of hardware and software. I prepared by having the Intel drivers at the ready, on my desktop, but I found Windows seemed to take care of itself nicely.  The Bluetooth function likewise.

Before responding here, I tested the laptop's new configuration in a problematic WiFi reception area that confounded the old AC-7260 literally to no end, and was the reason I looked for a fix.  No longer a problem, I can report.

Thank You

This is a good fix.
