XPS 13 9350 completely deformed from swollen battery

Hi all,

Second to other topics raised I would like to express my disappointment with regards to Dell's support and extra charges on the famous swollen battery issue. Laptop was bought in December 2015 with a cost of approximately 1.600 EUR. After only ~300cycles the battery wore off and it got swollen under the laptop deforming literally all plastic bezel parts.

Dell asked for a crazy amount to repair the battery (laptop's extended warranty expires in late 2019) and eventually after many negotiations I succeeded in paying the new battery and letting them repair the rest warped parts. The laptop looks more now like a Steven Hawking's black hole where space and time warp together...

Meanwhile using the laptop is a true terror as the battery could explode anytime. I just wanted to add my voice and criticize the distinction for the topic of swollen batteries between 9350 and other Dell laptop owners.

I think this was the first (and last  ) Dell laptop I'll ever own. Next time I'll choose definitely a ThinkPad

My Dell XPS 13 9350 battery got swollen -twice- within 16 months. Moreover, Dell customer service told me that it is because I leave my laptop on charge 7/24. Of course, they refused to replace, or send a replacement. Can you send me links for such examples from other brands, too?

I have the exact same issue on my 9350 and dell support is useless and refuses to replace the swollen battery!

Hi there,

I bought my XPS 13 9350 in november 2016 and that happened to me too, first in october 2018 and again right now.

At first I noticed my keyboard a little bit uneven and the trackpad lifted. I opened it, noticed the battery and called dell. They told me that I would have to pay for a new battery as my warranty had expired and I did it.

Today (april 2020) I'm writing this because I think I will have to buy another battery (the third one in less then 4 years!!). I hope they recognize that there certainly is something wrong and help us as they did with the XPS 15.

Ps.: sometimes I do regret not having bought a macbook instead.
