XPS 15-7590, Killer Wireless 1650, WiFi issues

I am facing WiFi issues with my newly bought XPS 15 7590 and the Killer Wireless 1650 WiFi card. Installing latest Windows 10 and Dell Updates, replacing Dell WiFi Drivers by Killer Drivers (Aug 2nd) did not fix the problems.

On some WiFi I only can connect, if I disable ac/ax in the card driver properties or set the 2.4 GHz to 802.11b or  802.11g (Otherwise Windows keeps prompting for WPA key, even if it is correct).  On others the connection frequently drops for 1-2 seconds and then reconnects, even if I am just browsing (no heavy load on the card).

Did someone also encounter such WiFi issues with this hardware? (And probably already has as solution, besides replacing it with an Intel WiFi card?)

Thanks,

Irgi

Thanks for the reply.  After spending 1 hour with a tech visit and another 4 hours on the phone with Dell yesterday, I now know that the Killer adapter will not work with my ATT internet service, which is only 18 mbps.  It would have been nice if someone could have told me this originally.  I am now in the process of attempting to get faster service but it's a HUGE challenge.  Killer should let people know about this problem (and Dell should, too.)  Thanks again for following up!

I'm having the same issue with my 7590 and it is very frustrating. I  might be playing a game (for example Dota 2) and my WiFi connection will drop every 20-25 mins and it takes about 1-2 mins to reconnect

I've installed all the updates just like you and even tried going one step further by uninstalling and the Killer drivers and installing the Intel 21.30.3 ax200 WiFi card drivers instead which is a proposed solution you can find on other message boards however it appears this solution is not working either.

Dell, it is time to step up and propose a fix to this issue.. Many people have purchased your expensive laptops and are getting very frustrated with the customer support and poor attention to detail in your product.

It's time to wake-up before your brand suffers any further.

I too have a brand new Dell XPS 15 7590 with the I9 cpu with Killer Wifi issues.

Just like tons of other people after a while my throughput goes from 80Mbps on upload down to .4Mbps (4/10 of 1).

I have to disable wifi then reenable and it is fine for a while.

I have all the latest updates and drivers including your noted latest KillerWifi 21.40.2.2.

No change or improvement!

This is incredibly frustrating for spending multiple thousands of $.

From all the posts it appears only getting rid of the Killer Wifi card really fixes the issue so I have ordered an Intel Wifi card to replace the Killer Wifi.

This has been the worst experience with a laptop and I design both hardware and software for years.

Dont know how this made it through QA testing.

If you have another fix that noone has shared that will fix the issue please let me / us know.

I am running the same driver version on my 1650 that I downloaded straight from Killer Wireless site.  Mine seems fine and I am running it with an AX router.

The Killer Wireless site has an uninstall utility to clean the system of prior drivers.  I downloaded it and the new drivers and went off line.

I then ran the cleaner and rebooted.  Then I installed the drivers from Killer Wireless, and rebooted after.  I only went back online after that process was complete.

The Killer and Intel cards are basically the same.  Some of the software may be different but I have always felt some of the situations with the Killer cards is the way they are installed from the factory.

@TechNorm Thank you for your message on this matter, we apologize for the issues that you are encountering with your device.  We work with, Intel as the Killer Wireless AX1650 is the same module as the Intel AX200NGW. We also do not change the Intel drivers, and provide many options to install this driver here.

I would recommend you use the Uninstaller @Saltgrass mentioned. Steps to follow would be below:

Download the Killer Driver (Killer Software UWD), and Killer Uninstaller Tool First. After you have downloaded those, then open the Killer Uninstaller Tool, Click on "Scan for installed Killer Software" then after that Scan has finished you will click on "Remove Killer Software". After this completes then you will Restart your computer, from the Start button. After your system has restarted, and you have logged back into your system, you will use the Killer Driver you downloaded earlier. It will install, and if you used the Killer Software UWD it will prompt you to install the Killer Control Center from the Microsoft Store. Once you have done this you should be up and running.  You are currently on 21.40.2.2, and the latest release we have now is 21.50.1.1 in the Killer Software UWD.

Thanks, but it didn't solve anything for me.

IPS15 9560

Still kills the internet in the whole house!! So not only me are frustrated, but everyone in the house.

On some router at my friend it didn't have any problem whole day.

Now I am in an office and everyone has internet, but me!!

Even the printer froze.

I had only one Dell notebook before (Inspiron M5010) and it had serious issues with the AMD build motherboard. Fortunately I had 5 years extended varranty, but it was repaired about 6 times with the exact same issue!

I start to feel stupid buying a Dell again...

Hi,

I did indeed try this whole process and it made zero improvements.

From what I have been reading from the hundreds of people having this issue, it appears the majority seem to only be able to resolve the issue by deleting all killer software, and replace the WLAN card with a different model.

Do you have a solution that will actually work without replacing everything killer related and the WLAN?

After spending multiple thousands on an Intel I9 7590 xps 15 - this continues to be really frustrating as this is a work laptop in our high tech business.

Hi Norm,
I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists. I'd suggest you to uninstall the Killer wireless drivers completely and install it from here:
https://dell.to/2D9YhSB

https://dell.to/348MuQA

You could use the Killer uninstaller from here: https://dell.to/2D4kbqz to uninstall the earlier drivers and restart the system before reinstalling the drivers.

Mausam
