AW2721D, 240Hz flickering
I have a 3080 Ti and a 240Hz Alienware monitor connected via DP 1.4 causing twitching/flickering issues on whole screen when the Windows refresh rate is set to 240Hz. The only fix is to set to 200Hz. Was fine until 1 month in, updated the driver and that was it. After that one time I did a clean install and that was the last time it worked, then the issue came back in a week. Doesn't happen in game though but as soon as I hit the Windows button or increase or lower my volume in game the flickering/twitching starts ( basically its when windows overlay comes on in game) . MUTILPE times I did clean driver installs. Wiped it all using DDU and cleared every single trace of Nvidia files on the PC till the registry. Tried not installing GeForce experience too. Tried G-Sync on and off. Tried on and off HDR. Doesn't help at all. Was using the same setup previously with my 1080Ti with no issues. Monitor and cable is not an issue as it runs well in games at 240Hz. As soon as there's load on the GPU it stops twitching/flickering. Heaven benchmark runs normally. Cyberpunk runs normally with all maxed out in game ( some games twitch on the in-game menu due to low GPU usage). Changed ports and cables made no difference too. I've even emailed Nvidia about this and going thru some step by step t/shooting. Only turning down the refresh rate to 200Hz works as a temporary fix . Does anyone have a fix for it or have experienced this issue?
