Media Direct Partition

Hello All,

Now that I have Kubuntu running reasonably well on my new 9400, I'd like to get on to some other projects. One project in particular is an idea I have for the Media Direct button.

The first thing I did when I got my laptop was to format the thing and get that nasty Windows off of it. This involved wiping the parititions and in retrospect I probably should have taken a look at the partition table before hand and left the Media Direct partition in place. Now that it's gone, however, I'd like to have it back. Not the software, just the ability to boot in a certain partition with that button.

I have some half-baked idea that I can put a zippy superfast distro in there and boot right into a web browser or something to do some quick surfing without booting the entire laptop. Although, since suspend works so well I rarely turn the thing off so perhaps that's not the best idea. In any event...I'd like to use that button to boot to a partition.

Currently, it boots the machine as per the normal power button.

Can someone give me some insight into what this button does and where it looks for a partition, etc?

Thanks!
