i just inserted my SIM card into the slot of my laptop but nothing happened. should something appear?

I would like to know if it is rightly recognized by my system but i cant find it anywhere on windows.

Do i need any specific software?

I am not trying to use it to connect to internet by now, i just want to check if it is properly working
