When I boot up my one year old XPS M170, I get the gratifying message that my power supply cannot be determined. I have to turn on my xps with battery power then quickly plug it in b/c this will also not let my batter charge. 1st thing is 1st. I bought this computer solely for gaming and internet, with some photoshop on the side. When I get a message saying "please connect to a 130w or more powerful ac adapter, your system proformance will be impacted." I get pretty freaking upset. Is this what I pay a lot of money for??? To watch my game go from 40 fps one day. TO LOW SETTINGS at 15 FPS. I would expect more from dell. I have been a dell believer since I bought my first desktop in 1999. I have done some research on this topic and found that it is the faulty motherboard that causes the problem. So now that my laptop is out of warranty I can't get more than a "please read troubleshoot forums and community forums" from tech support to help me solve this. If my only option is to buy a new MOTHERBOARD, expensive, then what should I do? Where do I get one? What type of motherboard do I need? Does dell do instalations for under the price of my left leg and first born child? Hope Dell realizes this is a persisting problem and in no way isolated. Dell, you've lost my heart. With this problem I see absolutley no reason to by a expensive gaming laptop to have it become MS word powerful. Thank you for your time.
