I have a XPS 1530 with a 6 cell as well a as a 9 cell battery. I use this laptop anywhere from 3hrs to on the weekends 7-8 hours in a day, so obviously if I am running on battery I need to recharge it sometimes everyday.

 

My question is : Is it better to use battery power, let the battery discharge, and then recharge and discnnect the AC power? Thereby using a charging cycle 4 - 5 times a week. Or do I attach AC power and just leave it attached? Will this cause the battery to "lose its memory" and not hold a charge when I do not have the AC power attached?  Is this the case with Lithium ion batteries?

 

I want to get the most battery life I can.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
