I have a two and a half year old 8100 with a 15" screen and GeForce2 Go, 32MB video card, which is having a problem during boot-up. During boot the BIOS screen and the Windows XP start screen appear very large and expanded right and down. This continues through to the desktop which results in the icons and desktop to be in low resolution and expanded down and to the right. This does not allow me to access the menu bar and the only way to bring up the start menu is to press the Window key on the keyboard although this only allows me to see half the start menu. This problem occurs when I start the computer from standby as well, but if I start from standby it does not continue through to the desktop and only occurs during the BIOS and resume screen. The only way that I can get the machine to boot in the correct resolution is to "wiggle" the screen into various positions and continuously re-boot until it comes up normal. The screen is becoming loose due to this. I am wondering if this is a problem with the ribbon cable that connects the video card to the screen as I have checked the connections at the video card end and they are tight.
