DVD drive keeps disabling in Device manager

Hello, My first time posting in theis forum so please excuse me if I make errors with the guidelines. I have a DELL XPS 420 PC with win 7 64 bit. I did a firmware update    (obtained from DELL website) two days ago to my TS-H353B SATA drive, as this drive was not recognizing any of my media (other drive is a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653F SATA drive). The install prompted me to restart my PC to complete the installation which I did. Once restarted, the drive (F) disappeared from "My Computer" but showed up in Device Manager as disabled (right click). I enabled, the drive briefly (a few seconds) showed up in "My Computer" and then disappeared. When I checked the Device Manager, it was disabled again.

I tried uninstalling and restarting but have the same problem. I thought the firmware update damaged the drive, so I tried another SATA (lite on) dvd drive on my computer but still have the same problem. The other drive TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653F continues to work fine.

If I start in safe mode and enable the drive in Device manager, it stays enabled until I restart. If I put a DVD disc in the drive and keep enabling in Device Manager, the movie will eventually play. When I restart my PC, the problem starts again.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
