Sorry about that, but...

Try what Osprey4 suggested, take the system to a local computer shop and have it checked out, it may be worth paying the service fee.

OK, I'm not a techie, but can't you buy and/or have a new power supply installed?

Did you have it on a good surge protector?  Those usually have warranties covering the equipment attached to them.  We had a power hit some weeks ago and lost a lot of satellite equipment and our wireless router through the sat cables, but all the PCs, TVs, etc. that were on surge protectors are fine.

Just some thoughts...

I did.  For $29.95 they told me it was power supply.

I assume you mean computer when you say "hard drive". The answer is, no, this is not covered by warranty. Your homeowner's policy will cover it, though.

Your best bet is to bring it in to a local shop and let them see what they can salvage.

Dell will not replace or repair a storm damaged system, unless you have a comlpete care warranty.  Check with your homeowner's insurance carrier.

I would not let the shop install a new power supply until they verify that that's all you need.
