using internal hard drive on another machine

The sectors in the MBR in the primary partition are damaged on my internal drive on the inspiron 8600.  Before I get a new drive and/or reinstall OS etc I want to retrieve as much data as I can off the drive.  I've found a good third party tool (ACTIVE unerase) to do this.

All I have to do is somehow connect the damaged internal drive to another [working] computer as a data drive.  How do i do this given it's an internal drive?  Can I take it out of the original computer and
plug it into a 2nd modular bay of some other laptop for example...does the connector and/or the drive
fit and/or connect this way (ie, the same)?  What computers could I do this with?  I have several dell notebooks here in the office I could "borrow"

Thanks, Murray
