Aurora R1, multiple issues

Hi Guys,

New to Alienware and the Forum.

I picked up an old Aurora R1 in need of some tlc. After a strip down, clean and replacement cpu it is running. However I do have some problems:

Cpu is running at half speed

I cannot run command center

I cannot run OS recovery

Is there a copy of Windows 7 ultimate iso anywhere, so I can try a full reinstall?

Thanks in advance.

Edit,

forgot to add that the utility partition is missing.

Just to finish up. Make sure these last two connections are reinstalled before resetting the MIO board.

I'll take a look, but the lack of cable management in your picture isn't helping.

Looking at your picture again it looks like another cable connection is missing. Again, the cable management and angle of the picture has made it difficult to see what should have been a clear picture for discovery.

Check the connection missing in the picture below.

It should be this one.

#3 processor fan connector (MB_CPU_FAN)

Also, as was posted earlier and on page two, follow the instructions as to resetting the MIO board. Moving the green jumper is a bit move involved.

Follow the instructions for resetting the MIO board once you have all the connections reestablished. Also post a clear picture of your MIO board at an angle so there is depth to the picture. Don't take a picture straight on but at an angle to see the full side of connectors and the colored wires from each - unobstructed.

Thank you all for your efforts. It seems that everyway I try it, it's not working.

I followed all the reset instructions, fresh installs of Windows and CC in various combinations.

Seems I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order a new mio.

MIO boards are delicate and easily damaged. Unplugging and re-plugging the power cord to discharge the computer can damage the board as well for some reason. It is always good practice to unplug from the wall socket. When re-plugging into the wall socket rotate from bottom to top so that the longer ground plug inserts into the socket first.

If you think you have all the wiring completed then try one last thing. I mentioned it earlier but not sure if you did it.

In your documents folder there is an "AlienFX" or something similar, that holds all the CC themes, etc.. Delete that file, restart and see if CC will open properly and run. From there you can rebuild whatever theme you like. If that file is corrupt it will cause CC to not run properly.

Also in Windows Services make sure anything Alienware, Such as Alienware Fusion Service" is Running. If not click on it and select automatic.
