Aurora R7, 2080 Ti, fan problems

Hi. I got an Aurora R7 with i7-8700k water cooled and RTX 2080 Ti. Like everyone else, I got fans problems causing them to spike at vacuum cleaner levels even when I cold start the PC and play for 2 minutes. I replaced 2x GPU's and a motherboard on warranty, and now the problem is off warranty, so I need to solve the problem myself :))

I saw a lot of information and differences between chassis. I tried every software and bios updates, the space shuttle still takes off my desk.

So.. what are my options?

1. Change the top and front fan from crossair ML120 pro? Or its better with the sandwich - pull in and out - ?

Or 2 try to water cool the GPU with waterblock and external fans from articool? It seems a bit of hassle with this option, but I got no other option.. is this or throwing it out of my window :)) I got anxiety because of this PC!

Maybe other options? Save a brother out!

Hi and thanks for the reply @Anonymous !

So.. I need to buy 3x ML120 Pro 120x25mm, 2 for the top and 1 in the front case. ( there is a way that I don't need to take the AIO cooler from PCU out to mount the top fan ? maybe without setting 2 on top ? It seems that I only need to pull it out, but I saw some posts and they all needed to undo the AIO, i'm confused )

And then the hard part, Alphacool.. did anyone tried it with the Dell version of the 2080Ti ? I only saw FE graphic cards moded with water blocks. Do I need to buy the water block separately, right? also, do I need to modify the back of the case too to take the tubes out ? aaaand.. the last question, do I need to replace those 3x fans too if I go the hard way with Alphacool ?

Oh, and 1 tube of thermal paste for the AIO, any recommendation ?

I'm curious on one thing.. after you did project I, why did you still moved all the internals in another case, there was still issues with cooling?

Damn, your projects are amazing, I'm glad that you shared that detailed DIY.

Sorry for dismissing the Noctua fan, but I saw some incompatibilities on some threads and I really don't want to have any more errors after all this project. Any ideea if there will be a problem squeezing all 3 in there (2xML & the AIO fan ? I think I saw someone having issues with this)

So.. 3x ML120 pro no RGB + PWM Y-splitter adapter cable

1x water block compatible with Founder edition 2080Ti ( I saw there is no many option on stock, but some have issue with squirting water when you apply some force on the tubes so I need to be careful )

1x Alphacool Eiswand Tower

Any other component I need to buy? I got anything I need in those orders? I'm still not sure if I can pass those tubes through that metal plate piece on the back of the case, I have that piece on the Alphacool set?

Thank you @Anonymous for the patience and skill

Its way harder then I thought. I saw that Alphacool Eiswand Tower comes with tubes, fittings and coolant and In my head it seemed way easier because I don't need to go all the way up to the CPU with tubbing so just a quick - GPU to the back and of the case - route with both tubes.

*I saw that my last post was deleted, maybe because I uploaded a photo.

Can you please give me a website or product details on your Quick disconnect fittings and PCIe Pass trough ? The bad part is that I've never done this before and I was looking for a " kit " type of solution, and the more I go trough it I see that I need to build it piece by piece if I want it to to be a quality build. The money I need to spend is higher and the amount of detail and research I need to put into this and the idea that maybe the products wont fit or won't be compatible and something can go wrong really easy is risky. And I need to go trough all this to try to fix a broken thing and make it work normally :/, I don't really know if I should do this, is it worth it in the end ?

Thank you again @Anonymous  you really help me a lot!

I would really appreciate if you could track the order information and see the product ID on components that you used. The only difference is that I live in UK but I hope I can find every component

For the Dell blower 2080 ti set your temp limit to 82 c in Command Center in the OC section or you can use MSI Afterburner to do it and your Dell OEM 2080 ti should not go into "vacuum cleaner" mode anymore while gaming

I think I will go with EK-Quantum Vector RTX RE Ti D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi (Waterblock)

and EK-Quantum Vector RTX Backplate - Black (Backplate)

I don't know if I can share links with product, because I got my post deleted yesterday

Man.. I searched for Alphacool Eiswand 360 Solo to find it on stock somewhere and I saw this video and I ended up in a wormhole building a cooling system : MO-RA3 420 PRO with 8 Noctua fans with pull in and out method mounted on that radiator, with a good pump and reservoir, but I think is overkill for my PC. There are so many option for the whole watercooling system. I need to make a comparison on a estimate total built vs those two.

I don't have the facilities for that big man

Ok man, you convinced me ! I will go with the Alphacool tower.

This video made me go with the EK but I'm not sure if will fit the GPU, I tried the " configurator" on EK website, there is no Dell option for the GPU, they advise to contact them for a GPU that's not listed. I e-mailed them, they said my GPU does not exist :)), I replied with some google photos and description, I wait for the reply.. but I'm not sure anymore

I think the easy way around is to make your exact built, if you had the same GPU.

I will make the order on Aquatuning. Initially I thought that I will go with tubbing directly to the PCI pass trough, but if you say that the bending to the front of the case is the way to go that's what I'm going to do

So the list looks like this project2.PNG

Tower  I found a version with just the tower, w/o extras

PCI slot cover is ok ?

Quick release  is a kit for 2 sizes, they don't have have 13/10 G1/4 only

Tube 3m is long enough?

compression fittings is a pack of 6

45 degree x6

What changes should I do to the order ? What else would you add  @Anonymous

I need coolant, but I got no idea what I should use

I have a 5% off first order, Shipping doesn't seem to go free after certain amount spent

The good part is that by the ETA, I think I will get them in December

Tower  I found a version with just the tower, w/o extras    yes, that is good . . . note the delivery delay; available immediately at Alphacool . . . but extra shipping .

I can't find available, even if I change the shipment option. On site is  "Not stocked. Expected to be available in 5 - 6 weeks ".

Ok.. I hope I get this right final project 1x2.PNGfinal project 2x2.PNG

I almost got UV coolant too, and I saw that is only for show, its better that I did not find that out the hard way  . Its 1L enough? I hope the tubbing colour is not for show too

Now the fitting.. Water block > 45 degree rotating > fitting > tube to the front of the case and back to PCI > fitting > PCI cover > quick release connector kit > fitting > tube to the tower > fitting > 45 degree angle > Tower.

Drain tube :  tube > barbed fitting > ball valve > barbed fitting > tube > barbed fitting > male to female extension > ??? and here what it suppose to be ? I see there is a different ending to each tube, one female, one male.

and one more confusion. I see that I have outside the PCI 2 kit of quick release, I need one more for the drain ?

And I saw on your last post getting 2x quick connect male and 2x female, is that to replace the kit, or I need them separately?

, Can't thank you enough @Anonymous ! The world needs more people like you! The amount of explanation and step-by-step guide  , really grateful for everything man! sorry for the amount of trouble cause by every dumb question from me, trying to imagine every detail of the plan without any experience in water cooling, but hoping everything to be perfect

I have everything backed up and ready to order and start the project, even if I'm really nervous when I think that I will open up the GPU  .

I will wait until the " mid-november stock " is back online, or if I'm lucky, some other stores will have the tower sooner. I checked Alphacool main retailers in UK and I tried to e-mail them for a possible restock and they said that they won't have the tower back in stock.  I hope that the worst case scenario will be in november from Autotuning, even if is not a main retailer.

That's a sexy GPU , why you did not mount it vertically ? btw, what's the name of your GPU support bracket?

Oh, so those will be the next steps I will consider in the future ?

You've got a pretty expensive hobby, your PC config is already overkill for all the games on the market. I'm curious about the rest of your setup now  .

..but what are you doing with your old system? It's not a drawback when you try to sell it and they see the tower attached to the main rig ? I'm thinking that when I finish modding my PC I won't be able to sell it for a decent price.
