Aurora R7, RTX 3070 card fitting?
I was able to buy the Gigabyte AORUS 3070 but it's 290mm. Is there anything I can do to my Aurora R7 to get it to fit in the case? Would replacing the front fan be a viable option? Is a replacement case an option? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey and thanks!
If that card is 285mm this 15mm thick fan should fit with 3mm spare room. You do need to mount it with screws so a few holes need to be drilled in the frontframe (that fan bracket is of no use since it's way to big).
You could even check to fit it between the plastic front cover and the front metal frame there is about 18mm space but also a plastic finger that supports that cover. Not 100% sure but worth checking

I just want to share my experience with fitting my Gigabyte Aorus Master 3070. I had to move the fan on the opposite side of where it is located. I will change it to a Noctua slim 120mm fan that is currently in order. The temps maxed at 80c with factory overclock on this card. I dropped the temp limit to 74c and still have max 1900+ mhz clocks even on heavy gaming.

@noypi2000 So I know I'm resurrecting a dead thread here, but were you able to use the Noctua slim fan mounted externally and still be able to put the front of the case back on? I have an Asus TUF 3070ti that I snagged a while back and would love to be able to install, but I'd prefer not to lose the upper HD bay as someone mentioned earlier. If it worked for you, are temps still ok? How did you feed the fan's power cable through to the motherboard? TIA!

1. This is correct. @speedstep is correct.
2. The triangle-brace for the Aurora-R7 Power-Supply is in the way. That swing-out PS contraption won't close.
EDIT: Sorry, didn't notice thread was old. Still, should be helpful info to some.

The Triangle Brace will hit the top of the card and not allow the case to close.

Can you clarify what exactly is the "triangle brace"? There's nothing on the case door itself (see pictured), but there is the removable black piece I circled in the second shot. If that's it, it's removable. Is it really necessary? I assumed it was there to help support the weight of the card, but so long as you aren't tossing your machine around...

Triangle?

That is a GPU support bracket. I had to remove mine the first 24 hours I had it, as it was in the way for my SB Z card that I fitted in the only available bottom PCI-E slot.
It's a tool less removal.

Hi there,
@speedstep funny you show my picture with proof it did fit however..
I had the ASUS TUF RTX3070 OC installed and running for over a year without any issues. It does fit without removing or modifying this brace, it did not touch the brace and the cover had no problems closing at all. My card has a height of 12.6cm. The ASUS TUF RTX3070 Ti has (according the website) exactly the same dimensions so it should fit. The only interference with metal was in the front side lower fan mount and that can be easily bend after you remove (reposition) the fan (as stated in my earlier post)
Since I have recently build a new system with all new hardware except the 3070 I cannot provide anymore detailed pictures. Otherwise, I would have loved to help clarify this matter for @bassoprofundo .
The plastic support (bassoprofundo 2nd picture) is made specially for the GTX10XX series so you might remove it or adapt it to the RTX3070. I modified (shortened) mine a bit so it would fit under the RTX3070, just to have some support anyway.

Just posting back to say that I was able to successfully get the Asus TUF 3070Ti into my R7. I took out the Noctua I'd used to replace the OEM fan and attached one of these to the outside with some slim-cut two sided tape on the rims of the fan (since there are no screw holes). Threaded the cable for it through the opening to the motherboard header. Fair warning that I did have to flex the case to get the card to clear and get into it (which was a little scary), and I ended out needing to remove the plastic post on the front bezel that goes into the metal of the case (or it would have blocked the fan).
I also ended out using an orbital sander to file the inside of the bezel down some since after initially just clipping the post, the rough edges would hit the new fan if I touched the bezel in any way. It's running GREAT now with a 2500 point bump in 3dmark scores, temps within 1-2c of what I had with the 3060ti (which had FAR more clearance), and no cosmetic changes on the outside of the case.
Now to see how long it takes my son to notice that I stole the 3070ti back and swapped the 3060ti into his system...

Thanks all for the posts! I just installed the same card as @bassoprofundo in my R7. I had already upgraded the PSU to a XPG 750 Gold, added the Corsair H60 AIO (using the supplied SP120 fan), and replaced the stock front intake fan with a Noctua NF-P12 redux.
The card just squeezed in with the front fan removed - I taped the front edge of the case to keep the card from getting scratched on the way in. I installed the slim Noctua NF-A12 15mm to the outside under the grill using duct tape (yeah, ghetto) and the NF-P12 in place of the upper HDD bay (which I relocated to the bottom of the case in place of an SDD bay).
For the slim fan, I had to sand down the inside of the bezel, and I still can't use the bottom clip - it puts too much pressure on the fan, and causes the "bump" in the metal where the plastic post used to fit to interfere with the fan.
My CPU temps are about the same as they were previously - about 35C with Firefox, Task Manager, and MSI Afterburner running along with AW Thermals in the background (appx 5% CPU usage). Onedrive seems to be a real hog, bumps my CPU usage by 8-10% and temps by 10C or more. At this idle temp front fans are on idle, top fan is running at about 40%.

Glad to hear it! Wish I'd captured pics of mine for folks before I swapped the card back out. I ended out building a new 12700k-based system with some tax-time money and took the GPU with me to the new system, replacing it with a 3060ti that fits easily along with swapping the PSU (which had since become noisy). It's humming along nicely as an upgrade for my son's gaming life now.

That's in my short- to medium-term plan as well... perhaps if 12th gen prices drop in the fall when 13th gen is released. I'd likely build my own reusing the new GPU, PSU, NVMes and fans, and would revert the R7 back to stock except for the AIO and 32GB RAM upgrade. I'm hesitant to give to one of my kids as they'll fight over it and spend too much time gaming.

I also need to replace the card in my R7. I was looking for the 3070 TI Founder Edition, but as I understand it, the TI version is longer and will it be a problem because I will have to modify something? Its dimensions are 267x112 mm. The regular 3070 FE is 242x112 mm.
I read that the FE versions are quieter and better made, so I'm mainly looking for it. I hope it will be enough for GTA6 on medium settings.
