15 R4, reset Windows, no supported AlienFX detected

Hi All & Alienware Experts,

My Alienware 15 R4 went dark, with no lighting can be controlled from AWCC (Alienware Command Center) as the AlienFX is not detecting any hardware on my laptop. Getting frustrated as I have tried all of the other forum / article resolution but nothing can solve my issue here. Need your help whoever have resolved and having the same issue.

Chronology of issue:

1. I reset my AW 15 R4 Windows 10 Home edition
2. Install all the drivers and following Dell support assist recommendation
3. Install AWCC Version 5.3.2.0 and OC Controls Version 1.3.32.1360
4. Open the AWCC and No supported AlienFX devices were detected

This what I encounteredThis what I encounteredMy AWCC and OC Controls VersionMy AWCC and OC Controls Version

What I have done over 1 weeks, everyday to resolve this:

1. Reset my Windows 10 again and again with clean option (Remove all data, that taking hours)
2. Tried to Install AWCC & OC Controls, Uninstall using Revo Uninstaller again and again
3. Tried to Install .Net 3.5, Tried to Repair .Net framework again and again
4. Tried to Repair Visual Studio C++ Redistributable 2012, 2013, 2015 again and again
5. Tried to uninstall AWCC & OC Controls from safe mode
6. Tried to downgrade BIOS, and install previous version of AWCC and OC Controls (Many version I have tried)

Additional Note:

1. I have added 512 GB of SSD NVMe in the SSD slot 3
2. I upgraded to 32 GB RAM
3. Had installed dual boot Windows & Ubuntu (Linux) previously in my laptop

I'm really frustrated as I have done so many things with different combination of steps install, uninstall, reset windows, just wonder if we can debug this application / any log recording if what the AlienFX encountered.

Please anyone if you have the same issue and able to resolve this please share how to resolve this.

Really annoying as right now I do not have full control of my gaming laptop, though this laptop is super good, but this small things that should not happened really annoying.

Thanks Guys!

Hi @EnjoyBoss  welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Please delete OC Controls and AWCC using Revo Uninstaller Free and use its Advanced Scan to remove all multiple files, folders, and/or Registry entries left on your system, then Restart (not Shut Down). Please manually download and install the AWCC Old version that was installed at the factory, and you know works. Resist the temptation to install any other AWCC versions.

Please click on Kudos to say thank you for response from user that is not employed by Dell. Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.

Hi @crimsom thank you for your reply. I actually had tried several version that I am not sure which version actually working previously. Since so many version actually available so really frustrating for me install and uninstall all those versions. I had tried around 10 version and all not working actually.

But really appreciate your sharing here. FYI I also had use the advanced scanning by revo uninstaller and do delete all the corresponding left over files and registry.

Hi @EnjoyBoss  thank you for sharing update, with extra information.

AWCC Version 5.3.2.0 has AlienFX 2.0 and supports per-key RGB lighting keyboard, etc. Within image of your AWCC, the Home and FX tabs appear to be "missing".

Were the AWCC Home, Library, FX, Fusion tabs working, and were all the AlienFX LEDs working when the Alienware 15 R4 laptop was unboxed ???

Have you considered getting an Alienware Mouse, so that supported AlienFX devices were detected?

Did you try the McScruffy solution Solved: 17 R5, no supported AlienFX devices were detected - Dell Community

@crimsom Thank you and yes I understand that, to answer your question, yes the LED was working when unboxed. Will it be resolving my issue by having Alienware peripherals? If you in case having the experience, this a very good input I might consider buy something to solve this.

And yes I have tried McScruffy solution, and other forum solutions, since I can't resolve so I open this thread.

@Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006 Thanks will reply your PM.

Btw can we do debug of the Alien Command Center / have any log if encountering error?

Thanks Guys!

Hi @EnjoyBoss  thank you for sharing update.

Please run the Reliability Monitor and wait for it to load timeline of Events. The AWCC problem creates Events, open the Critical Event, it will have a Microsoft error code, but these are usually obscure. Use Microsoft error code to search the internet for similar problem and perhaps its solution will be your fix.

Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.

You’d have to look in the event viewer like crimsom said but you have to check each one like warnings or critical errors log.

Hi Guys Thanks for your reply.

Just want to update,

1. I have reset clean again my windows.
2. Diassemble my hood, removing battery.
3. I have even reset my BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and leave it for hours. (I need to disassemble all complicated components under the hood.)
4. After that, the first time I turn on, a red light around my Alienware power button turn on and I'm super happy (And I'm sure my hardware is not spoilt).

Thought this will solve the issue, but once latest AWCC installed, latest OC installed. Again no Alien FX detected. Even I just bought Alienware Mouse AW558, the funny thing it can detect my mouse.

My Alienware 15 R4 as per today 24 July 2021 still went dark.

Haha so funny this activities. Kind of really frustrating...

Appreciate you guys reply my thread, or if anyone really have solved their issue might be can throw some light again.

Which version of BIOS better to install, which version of AWCC better to install, which version of Windows 10 need to install. So many dependencies...

Cheers.

What if you install a earlier version of windows alongside the command center? Maybe it should work and you can test it.
