I have had one 17 where the chips on the opposite side from where the DC jack plugs into the board burst into flames but that was a stock 17, no 1070 upgrade. I only ever put a 1070 into my M18x R2 and I haven't seen anyone with your exact issue after doing a 1070 upgrade. 

Does it get hot without the 1070 installed? If you've tried different power supplies and different boards then it must be an issue with that 1070. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense though. Many people have done this upgrade and had good results. 

@mattyb3​ I'll try and benchmark it tomorrow without the gpu but even if it's the problem I doubt that it will get hot enough without the gpu drawing power 

I'll probably try to change the stock mosfet chips(SI7149DP) to upgraded ones(FDMC7660) that have better heat dissipation and are generally better because it looks like my board can't handle it for some reason 

I also think the gpu is a 1070mxm 

The mosfets they started using in the 17 R1 and the 18 were far weaker than the ones in the previous systems. I've seem people blowing these boards up for many years. The 18's really had problems. 

Still, you seem to be having a different issue than just that since lots of people have put 1070's in these laptops or even higher power draw cards without too much issue.

@mattyb3​ i tried unplugging the gpu and benchmarking the cpu for some time and they still got very hot

Not as hot when the 1070m was installed but still

Also I noticed that the top right mosfet chip is already starting to go because is turning a slight brown color so I stopped all testing altogether.

I definitely have to upgrade the mosfet chips but tbh I got no clue which ones I should put in that will fit and be enough to support my sistem

Also on the chips there are markings (6405 ba3k10) if that is any help 

I just need help finding a good replacement
