Alienware 17 R5 problems with AW CC OC
Hello,
I just recently got the AW 17 R5 with i9 and GTX1080
I have some issues with AW CC...
- It won't let me OC the GPU.
-Sometimes it doesn't show the ventilator speed in the AWCC software.
One thing I should add. Every time I run AW Update. It shows up SupportAssist OS Recovery tool. But every time I install it. It keeps showing up in the AW update software. Is this normal also?
My service tag is
Please advise.
Kind Regards,
Ronnie

Hi @Ronnietje13,
GPU OC is not manually done. It is done from Factory. That is normal as well as the SA appearing. The support Assist message is a glitch, a miscommunication with the server.
Regarding the fan speed, update to latest BIOS.
You can also uninstall and reinstall the AW Command Center following ALL the steps on this link.

Hello Eimy,
My bios was already updated.
I reinstalled AWC twice now. Still fanspeed is bugy...Been playing around with the heatprofiles a little bit. It seems like anything below 30% fanspeed is showing as 0%...not sure if this is normal. But at this point I give up and move on.
For the OC on the GPU. I know this GPU is very powerfull. And for games i'm not really interested in overclocking an i9 anyway. Other then maybe some UV to reduce heat a little bit.
Thanks for your help though. I appreciatie it.
