Area-51m R1, no boot, diagnostic beeps
<Started your own thread. DELL-Admin>
I could really use some help on this 1, 1 day recently i was loading up a game and when i plugged my controller in, it wasnt reading so i figured i quit the game and relaunch it but it froze so i had to hold the the power button to get it to turn off and when i went to power it back on, keyboard lit up but alienhead started blinking as shown in the linked video, i keep seeing people talk about these #,# codes but mines doesnt have a 2# beep code just 2 coinciding beeps thats it. I also attached the build specs, so all necessary info for diagnose this thing is linked, thanx in advance.

Two beeps is universally a failure to recognize memory. Unplug the system, disconnect the main battery from the mainboard and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove and reinstall the memory modules. Reconnect and try again. If you get the same beep codes again, try one module at a time in each socket until you isolate the issue to a single module (producing the same error in either socket) or the socket (in which case the module(s) test good in one socket but not the other). If you still hear the same fault code, the odds are either there's a system board fault or a failure in the CPU (which contains the memory controller). These do use separate, socketed CPUs that are replaceable.

@ejn63 I actually tried to drain the flea power and disconnect and reconnect the memory module before I posted this issue but I didn't try the one at a time but I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Also, could you please remove the attached image as it contains your systems Service Tag. You need to keep this Tag to yourself, unless asked privately by a Dell Support rep.

@ejn63 ok so I narrowed it down to the memory module in DIMM1 I put the one in DIMM2 into 1 and it worked, so I guess I'll order 1 to put into DIMM2. So should I get the same 1 or is there a better 1 I should get, or replace both with a better 1 since I'm buying a new 1 anyways.

Hi @Gaming_God thank you for sharing update. RAM Memory cards are usually very reliable. Using can of dry air (or similar) to remove dust and/or debris during reseating the memory cards should get both cards working. Putting memory card in DIMM1 and then DIMM2 also checks that these memory slots are working, having made sure that electrical contacts are clean. Please undertake Hard Reset then install the other Memory card as part of process to check that both Memory slots are working.

@crimsom ok I have a 28 gallon air compressor ill give that a try (on low pressure of course lol), also If I'm understanding correctly, I believe I tried that, to put what I did in more detail I swapped the cards same prob, I put the original one back in DIMM1 (none in DIMM2) same prob, I put DIMM2 card in 1 it worked, then I added DIMM1 original in DIMM2 went out again of course when I removed it, it worked again so i Concluded its DIMM1 card only, but if I missed something let me know.

If the system boots with just one module installed in either socket, but errors with the other installed in either socket, at least that one module needs to be replaced.

@ejn63 Ok on the Motherboard it says the order is DIMM1>DIMM2>DIMM3>DIMM4, will it even work if I skip DIMM1 and use 2(Assuming they're both in working order)

The manual shows only pairs being supported.

Hi @Gaming_God thank you for sharing update.
I am not sure of your memory testing result.
Please annotate memory card one, two, etc. for permanent identification.
Does the memory card slot and/or the memory card fail?
