BIOS Won't Update Alienware 17 R4

I purchased this laptop in early 2017. The OS is Windows 10 Pro x64.Intel Core i7-7820 HK. Every time I try to update the BIOS on my PC, once I restart, I check system information and the last BIOS update reads 1.2.4 on 1/25/18. It won't update to 1.2.4 on 6/28/2018. SMBIOS Version is 3.0. I check support assist, and it loads up and says I have an update on the BIOS (which should have already updated). I am at my wits end on what to do. Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The update in question is:

Alienware 15 R3/ Alienware 17 R4 System BIOS

Check the details of the last bios update. Maybe it doesn't apply to your model's hardware. Forcing a bios is not recommended. See this thread about problems with that new update--

Wait until a later one is issued.

I have the exact same issue on my 15 R3 bought in may 2018. The desktop DELL support app tells me to urgently update my BIOS to 1.2.4 on6/28/2018, and every time I run the update it does not go through (I have deactivated overclocking as required).

What should we do?

Many thanks for your help

@Mary G

"kicking the can down the road"  Isn't the best recourse for a Security Vulnerability.
