m15 R6, not turning on

My laptop went to sleep and when I tried to use it, nothing turns on. No fan sound, no lights and power button remains blank too. I’ve tried everything recommended on the internet except for opening it up in fear of breaking something. Anyone else encounter this or have tips?

Check if the light is lit at the plug end of the AC adapter or on the adapter block. And see if that light remains lit when you plug it into the laptop's jack. If the AC adapter's light goes dark when you plug it into the laptop, then the fault is likely with the jack or the circuit.

For the moment, I will assume that your adapter's light does remain on when connected to your laptop. Here's what to try next:

  1. Disconnect all peripherals: printers; USB devices; media cards; USB hubs and extenders; etc.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual electricity.
  5. Reconnect the AC adapter (without connecting the battery)
  6. Reboot the laptop.

If it does power up, I would run Dell Diagnostics:
Immediately after pressing the power button to turn on the laptop (or after clicking the Reboot command), press F12 repeatedly to enter the One Time Boot Menu, select Diagnostics and press Enter. The Dell Diagnostics will test all your hardware.

Hi @PUgalde welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.

Not opening system up in fear of breaking something, limits your options. Dell expects users to upgrade their system and removing the Base cover does not invalidate the Dell warranty.

If Alienware m15 R6 has extended Dell warranty, please click on Contact Technical Support and request home visit by their designated local-to-you contractor. Dell guarantees 100% the work undertaken by their designated contractor and installation of Dell replacement parts. If there is a local Dell repair facility they should be nominated by Dell Support. You can request that system is returned to Dell for repair, you must wait for Dell to collect the notebook in its as delivered configuration. I was about to use my computer and I went to turn it on and nothing turns on. No fan sound, no lights and power button remains blank too. I drained the power by unplugging the battery and that help to turn it on again. The problem is that the computer is keeping doing the same thing many times and is very difficult for me to keep doing that in my job. In one single month it happened at least 5 times. What can I do to permanently fix that problem??

Does the same thing happen even if the battery is disconnected?

Follow the reset process that you followed a few weeks ago:

Run Dell Diagnostics:
Immediately after pressing the power button to turn on the laptop (or after clicking the Reboot command), press F12 repeatedly to enter the One Time Boot Menu, select Diagnostics and press Enter. The Dell Diagnostics will test all your hardware.

Run it like that, without the battery, for a while, including shutting down and powering up multiple times, to see if the problem occurs without the battery connected. If the problem does not occur, then the battery may be the problem.

Once you reconnect the battery, test it:
Open an Administrator CMD prompt (CMD, run as Administrator).
Paste this command, and then press Enter:
powercfg /batteryreport

And run Dell Diagnostics again with the battery connected.

That will show a figure for the designed battery capacity (when new) and the current ("full charge") capacity.

Did you do everything that I suggested?
Did you run it through many power-off and power-on cycles without the battery?
Did you run the full diagnostics, both without and with the battery?
Did you run the battery test?
