m15 R6, screen burn
I have an Alienware m15 r6 laptop that I bought 1.5 years ago. Recently, I noticed screen burn on the display. I have tried updating the drivers, restoring the factory settings, and installing Windows 11 from scratch, but none of these methods worked. How can I tell if this is a hardware defect or a software issue?

If you're seeing it before the OS loads as it appears, it's a hardware issue -- the screen will need to be replaced.

can I know what could have caused this defect?

Some screen types are still susceptible to image retention -- OLED for instance. And if the system was subject to an abnormally high usage cycle (such as powered on for hours or days at a time without a screen saver or the screen off), that can also contribute.
