m17 R1, getting too hot

I recently purchased this laptop because my HP was overheating.  I thought a gaming computer would not have this problem.  It gets so hot I can't even touch it.  Sometimes it shuts down because it gets too hot.  I installed the Core Temp app so I could see how hot it gets and it keep giving me warnings that one or more of my cores is critical.  I'm not sure what information to post to get help other than this photo.  I am not very technical but can change some settings if necessary.  It just doesn't seem normal to get so hot.  I am only running Chrome and Second Life to get these temperatures.

You're in Fahrenheit, not Celsius. You're max temp is 83°C.

Normal. Welcome to thin gaming laptops. While the idea is going a gaming laptop is good, you went THIN. Not to mention you're also using a Hex core processor.. Unit WILL get hot. Only option is to undervolt the CPU or buy a cooling pad with two fans to drop the temps around 5'C. Why I am happy with my brick Alienware 15 R3. Fast, great cooling but thick. But thick has its points.

you're TJ Max hits 100'C which is why the computer throttles and shuts down. Unless you undervolt you're CPU you're going to have a heating issue due to the CPU being a SIX core processor, crammed into a thin cooling system mixed with sub par thin fans most likely paired to a 2070 RTX which will also increase system temps substantially. Honest advice, return where you got it from and look for a 15 R4 or 17 R4/5

If you're going to keep it, buy either a cooling pad, or download Intel XTU and undervolt the CPU to save temps. While they look great, they are not the best gaming units due to it being thin with super high end hardware. Terrible design idea but hey, I didn't make it.

What you can also do, is start second life and then do Ctrl+Alt+Del and bring up the task manager. look for Details, then look for Second Life, right click on it and select core affinity and then set Core Affinity to 1-4 and see if that doesn't improve performance instead of it being on all "12".

I have an Alienware m17 on order, I hope they all don't run that hot!
