m17 R3, first boot hang

Question

Hi,

I have just received my Alienware laptop and try to boot it for the first time. However I am stuck at ‘Now we have some important setup to do’ for 2 hours. Can’t restart. I am not sure what to do now. Help, thanks.

It did finally boot after a couple of manual power button, pulled cord reconnect power button restarts. Its terrifying because of the alerts that say not to unplug power. Also I would advise against the alienware bios service update. Mine always got hung up and would sit there partially completed with the same power warning.

Turn off the laptop and disconnect any peripherals plugged into the laptop. You should only have the AC power adapter attached to the laptop on a first time boot. Then turn it on again.

If still hanging there, download the windows media creation installer tool on another computer and then put it on a usb and plug it into the laptop. It should give you an option to boot from it by clicking F12.
