Avamar fails to backup shared folder when performing VMware full image backup.

We are using Avamar v 6.1.2-47 to backup our VMware 5.5 farm, performing full image backups. When I recovered a particular Windows 2008 R2 VM to another server name it is missing the shared folder and all data below. I think it is because users may have the files open, but everything that I read says it uses VSS to create a snap and backs up the image. There is another shared folder on the C: drive that is backed up. The difference is users map the shared folder on the E: drive and may have open files.

Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks.

Thank you. I did not see the Avamar forum and am new to the groups.

Update: We did isolate the problem and are able to reproduce at will. The backups are complete and the data in the shared folder is there, but just for a few seconds after a server reboot or restoration. We isolated the problem to be an application specific service running that deletes the shared folder on startup. If I set the service to manual or disable it, the shared folders will be there. Once I start that service it will delete them in a matter of minutes. Getting in touch with the application vendor to get them to correct this issue.

Hello, I am moving this thread to the Avamar Support Forum where your question can be better seen and addressed. The ECN Help Forum space where you originally posted this question is just for asking questions about the usage or functionality of the EMC Community Network (ECN) platform rather than any specific EMC products or solutions. Thanks.
