Avamar Immutable Backups (with DD) -- multiple client versions

Hi all,

We are looking to implement Avamar Immutable Backups on AVE + DD3300.

Having a look at Article 000204635. AVE is at 19.12 and DD is at 8.1.x, so fairly up to date.

The article says:

Avamar version requirements (check "Additional Info" for Hotfix Suite numbers):

• 19.4.0-124 + server/client Hotfix
• 19.7.0-82 + server/client Hotfix

Of course things are never simple and we have a mix of clients (including 19.2). The question is, since immutable backups is a global setting, what happens with the older clients when immutable backups are enabled? Will their backups start failing? Will they simply not be retention-locked? Or something else?
