Dell Storage SCv2020 replacing failed drive
Hello,
I got Dell Storage SCv2020 with one SC100 expansion with 24 drives. One of the drives failed and I needed to replace it. All the drives in the SC100 are 1.2TB Dell Enterprise plus SAS 12Gbps, 10K RPM. I am trying to replace this failed drive with another Dell SAS drive but this is 2TB 12Gbps, 7,2K RPM. I have located the failed drive with Dell storage manager and I go step by step, first clicking on the replace disk option and going through the steps. Dell storage manager fails to replace the disk and shows a message "The Storage Center has not recognized a new disk after several minutes..." After that, I noticed that this drive is attached to the storage as an External Device (I found it in the External Devices folder).
I have read about the Dell Compellent drives and I don't know if this is the problem? I will attach a picture from the new drive below. Any suggestions what is the problem here?
Thanks!

Hello @Dime.00
I am afraid this disk Dell Part Number TMVN7 is not compatible with the Dell Storage SCv2020.
Regards.

Hi @Dime.00,
Unfortunately we do not have the tool for recommendation for storage systems. It is recommended to contact the sales department or any available Dell partner in your region for official recommendation.

@DiegoLopez, thank you for your fast answer. Can you please tell me where I can find a list of drives compatible with the Dell Storage SCv2020? We need to make an order, and I need to find the exact model and use that document as proof, as instructed here in my agency. Thanks!

I am facing the same problem.
DELL EMC SAN Model Number is: SCv3020
Failed Hard Disk Part Number is: ST1800MM0129 (Dell)
Replaced Hard Disk Part Number is: ST1800MM0159 (Dell)
all other parameters are the same but it shows in "EXTERNAL DEVICES" with the same name i.e 01-04.

Hi, as i can see it's already discussed under this thread. For SC series, the replacement hard drive has to have the correct firmware. I mean it could be wrong FW on harddrive. Please ensure following I think you can check steps for replacing drives for SC series:

Hi,
It seems that you have a few post topics that you responded (https://dell.to/4bOmFbz ), hence I'm going to leave this to the public for their feedback, and I'm going to reply to the other topic post.

Good morning. I have almost the same problem, the difference is that the disk was also replaced, but it was not included as an external disk, it just turned green in the storage manager.
But after finding and following this step-by-step procedure to replace the disk (https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/pt-br/000117921/substituindo-disks-in-sc-series-por-meio-de- dell-storage-manager-client), it gave me the error "The Storage Center has not recognized a new disk after several minutes. Try adding the disk again"

Hi, If you’ve checked these potential issues and the problem persists, I would recommend reaching out to your local Dell Support for further assistance.
