Throughput in half after FOS upgrade
We upgraded from 5.3.1 to 6.2.0g and I noticed that the throughput to our tapelibrary is now cut in half ! Not precisely, but about that. We were used to see speeds of 270GB/hour (75MBps) of backup jobs to LTO3 drives. After the upgrade I hardly see speeds exceeding 140GB/hour.
Side note: the B200E switch our library is attached to has 4 quads and each quad serves 1 pair of LTO3 drives and has 1 ISL to a B4900. In this particular switch we have port zoning instead of wwn zoning. So the 200E has 4 ISL's which aren't trunked on quad level. Previously the load to and from each drive only went through 1 ISL and after the upgrade I can see a perfect load balancing, so data also goes to the other 3 quads and I suspect this is the cause of the performance problems we're now having (backups to tape almost taking twice as long).
I'm thinking about putting all 4 ISL's together to 1 quad so a true trunk will be formed and put the LTO3 drives on (an)other quad(s).
Any thoughts ? Has somebody else noticed a performance degradation after going from FOS5 to FOS6 and specifically the versions I'm talking about ?
