Alienware X51 Delay
On 2/7/13 I ordered an Alienware x51 that was listed on the alienware website as "ships next business day". The setup I ordered was as is, no configuration changes. I picked next business day shipping and my "estimated delivery date" was 7-11-13. This was fine as I ordered it on a Thursday. On my "estimated delivery date" I received an email saying that my computer had been delayed and I would receive it on 7/14/13. I waited. On that "estimated delivery date" I received another delay, this one saying 2/19/13 was my new estimated delivery date. Well, today is 2/18/13 and I call the "customer service line" and give them my Service Request Number. I had a simple question, would my computer be shipped today or would it be delayed again? The agent told me that no one in the company could tell me whether or not it would ship today, that if there was another delay I would be informed about it TOMORROW. The day I'm suppose to receive my computer.
I have already missed a couple days of work due to these "delays" as I have to be home to pick up the shipment. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a single person I can talk to that knows whether or not my computer will or will not actually be shipping today. Nobody has been able to tell me why my computer keeps being delayed, or whether or not a second, separate alienware I purchased will also be delayed. All in all this has been an incredibly frustrating experience.

Dyllanc,
Sorry about the hassles you've had. I understand completely how frustrating this is first hand.
If you send me your order number in an email, don't post it here, I can forward it to someone in Texas at Dell and see what he can find out? Am I sure I can get you the answer you want, no... but I will try. As far as why it gets delayed, that could be a many different reasons.
As far as the second unit being delayed ... I would say one thing has nothing to do with the other, unless they might be the same unit and be delayed for the same reason. I highly doubt this is your case.
Right now it's 4 p.m. in Texas and I am not sure how late my friend works?
Send me that order number and I will see what I can find out.

Just checked my order status and it's telling me that my order has been delayed yet again...surprise. My new "estimated delivery date" is now 2/22/13. All these delays and still not a single word as to why. I consider myself a patient person and would have had no issue waiting the two weeks it has been, but the lack of communication from Dell is really irritating. This is, after all, MY computer that is being continuously delayed, but whenever I ask why, I receive no answer and am treated like I shouldn't even be asking. A little bit more transparency with the customer would go A LONG way in preventing these sorts of issues. Hopefully this is the last delay, but I'm beginning to think I spent over a grand on a nifty little "random delay email" service. If it wasn't for the fact that I have shopped with Dell/Alienware several times in the past and received my product on time and was completely satisfied, I would have cancelled this order. Truth be told, 2 weeks isn't that long to wait for a computer, but the fact that when ordering I was made to believe I would receive it in a few days was not only deceptive, but it actually influenced my purchase of that particular system. I bought the higher end model particularly because it was listed as "ships next business day". I just hope one of the myriad of people I have communicated with on this issue actually gets back to me with why my system keeps getting delayed. It's very disconcerting.
