Zero customer care
I bought a Dell Vostro 3500 i3 from a local retailer here in South Africa.
I have had a problem with the PC from day one.
Every few hours, it freezes, screen flashes different colours, then it reboots.
Event viewer shows:
WHEA-Logger: A fatal hardware error has occurred.
I have been struggling with Dell technical support in the UK every day for two weeks now. We have done various scans via Dell Support Assist and command prompt; we have reloaded Windows and nothing helps.
The last email from the technician I have been dealing with states:
" As you already tried the recommended troubleshooting and look likes the next feasible option that we have Motherboard and HDD with image replace with onsite engineer if you prefer."
I am however now fed up with struggling like this. I bought a brand new Dell Vostro for ZAR10 000.00 and expect it to work properly. This is affecting my work. The very reason I bought a Dell was because people told me it is the most reliable brand and has the best after-sales service.
I contacted the retailer about swapping the Vostro for an Inspiron; perhaps this model will work better. They said I must contact Dell customer care for a credit note. The South African helpline doesn't seem to be working - it always says "the department you are trying to reach is closed" very frustrating; and the technician in the UK says he can't help me with returns. I cannot reach anyone at Dell other than technicians who cannot help me with customer care. Emails to Dell South Africa are being ignored - endless frustration.
There are pictures of smiling customers all over Dell's website and slogans about how much Dell cares about customer satisfaction, but no reality to match this façade.
Is there anyone out there?
