Report Help (ver 5.8.3)

Try as I might I just can't seem to get the hang of reports.  I'm trying create a trend report for utilization of all configured file systems for a two or three month period.  I know I need a class, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen soon.  Has anyone else created any type of "trending" reports that could guide me in the proper direction?
