Doubts on OME Management Station Functions

Hi All,

I have doubts with regards to "Management Station".

James_007_2-1676253985089.png

1. What is Management Station and its functions?

2. Why do the firewall rules port 25 and 53 destinations to Management Station? Based on my understanding port 25 destination should be directed to SMTP server and port 53 to a DNS server.

Hope someone can help me answer.

Management Station

A management station is a technical common term used for is a laptop, desktop, or server from where you can access management tools such as OME, IDRAC to manage nodes (MN) such as Servers/Chassis/Switch/Storage.

Let us take an ex: of SSH
The MS(Management Station) could be a Windows Box having Putty software and through Putty port 22 you can connect to OME if FSD is enabled. That is why the direction mentioned is IN.

DNS:
Here MS could be the Windows/linux  host/server (which has DNS configured / has access to same DNS network as OME) and can access OME through FQDN over a Web browser.

Thanks,
