Firmware update for R620 750w power supply
I'm running OME v2.0 and it reported we needed to apply a critical update to our 750w power supplies on our R620 servers (Power_Firmware_JX7PR_WIN64_09.2B.80_A00.EXE)
I've installed the update on 2 of our R620 servers and did not receive any errors. After the update process completes (and multiple reboots), it still shows the older firmware (v07.2B.80) is still installed.
Curious if anyone else has had this problem or successfully updated their power supply firmware.

This similar issue also happened on the firmware of Flex Power Supply. OME shows 6B.47.9B as newer firmware. When the update was applied, it still updated to old firmware.
I tried different updates methods on two R620. Both same behavior.
It could be another typo: 69.45.9B vs 6B.47.9B.

Ok, I finally chased down a bit of info here. Looks like the driver vendor is aware of this and needs to make a change to resolve. I don't have a timeline yet, but will post if I can find that out.
Thx

Hello Rob,
Have you heard anything about this?

I am also curious as to whether or not a fix has been released. Would be nice to have these last couple of servers marked as compliant and up to date.

Yeah, I think they posted an update on support.dell.com on the download page, but they added a note:
OME may report that a firmware update is still needed because of the primary version difference after a firmware update.
So they seem to indicate some 12G limitation in getting it addressed. Still checking...
If you guys open tickets that might help as well.

Thanks! Rob for checking on this. Yes, OME still reported update needed after the new firmware.
However, it seems to be worse now. The server can not bring itself up after the upgrade. I tried on three R620 last night. The server can not power itself on even after a few hours. I had to manually powered up the three servers.
I have the latest Catalog. version: 1Y8PP.

Yes, this is still an issue for me with these firmware packages:

I haven't had the time to open a support case with Dell. I wish the information from the forums would bubble up to the product testers directly and that these issues would get resolved faster. I've gone the support route before for this type of issue and its taken many months to get a fix ... and WAY too much of my time.

Has anybody tested this again with the latest release of OME 2.0.1 as well as the latest catalog update?

I have tested with v2.0.1 and no change (still reports the server needs the update). I suspect the problem is not with the version of OME but with the install package itself.

Hi,
Thanks for the post. As rightly mentioned, this is not an issue due to OME. This is a limitation with this DUP itself.
This has been communicated to respective team & they are analyzing possible fix.
If we get to know any information about timeline or workaround, will update you.
Thanks,
Arun

I had the problem too. If I remember correctly I shut the server down, did a FLEA reset (pull the power cord to both PSUs and then press and hold the power on button for 10-20seconds, release and reconnect the PSU power cords) and then powered the server back up and ran the FW update, this seemed to work. I have more to do but it's getting the downtime permission to do this especially if I have to pull power to each PSU before running a FW update.
Can somebody test this to see if this works for them.

Did you try the solution I offered in my previous post to this problem.

I can not believe that Dell leaves this issue outstanding for so long.

Same here, doesn't update from 07.2B.80 to 09.2B.80
Affected model R710.
Tried LC updater and a DELL Support provided update ISO tailored to the R710. Tried draining flea power, resetting iDRAC and LC, but to no avail.
