New Hard drive is E not C! Pls Help!!

Hi Helpers! (gosh, I hope so),

I had a new hard drive installed on my dimension 3000 computer. I installed windows xp software. Only problem is, the install thinks my hard drive is E and my dvd player is the C. As you can imagine, this has caused many problems. I am a layman when it comes to computers (but catch on quickly) and really need some help.

I have tried to re-install the software also.

Any help would be great!

Thanks for your response Bev.

I have no media card reader or zip drive hooked up. Nothing extra was connected. The CD player in my tower is what is now my C drive. My hard drive is now my E drive. I had to use it to load the Windows CD. I cant unhook the cd b/c then i wouldnt be able to load windows off of my disk.

Have any other ideas?

V

Do you have a media card reader, or a Zip drive installed?

Did you disconnect all the peripherals from the system except the keyboard, mouse and monitor?

With XP, the only way to change the assigned letter on the boot drive, is to carry out a clean reinstall of XP.

Bev.
