Resetting COM Ports

I have had problems trying to get my Axim and Dimension 2400 to communucate using a Sitecom bluetooth USB adapter - resulting in having to install and uninstall the adapter software several times (long story) anyway all this has caused the bluetooth wizard to stop searching beyond COM3 when trying to reinstall the adapter and when I try using the Activsync wizard it automaticall starts at COM10 and ignores COM 4 - 9 even though it did recognise these ports during earlier attempts to install the software - is there any way to reset the ports without doing a complete reinstall - the Axim will not recognise any COM ports other than 7 and 8 ..... HELP!

From a BIOS stand point the best you can do is try clearing the NVRAM using the procedure I've listed below.  By clearing the NVRAM the BIOS and all its settings will be defaulted as well as all the installed hardware will be redetect.  If the problem continues after clearing the NVRAM then I suggest posting your problem over in the Dimension - External Peripheral forum.  The BIOS forum has a rather limited audience so the peripheral forum maybe a better venue in which to resolve the problem.
  •  Reboot system and enter the BIOS Setup by pressing F2.
  • Turn on Caps Lock, Scroll Lock and  Num Lock.
  • Press ALT+ E then ALT+ F then ALT+ B
