XPS 420 and 425w power supply

As of today, the only way to get the 425w power supply is to order the High Powered Performance Bundle. This is the only bundle that has the 768MB nVidia 8800GTX video card.

Umm, I ordered this combo last week just for the 425w PSU.  I recieved my 420 XPS this morning.  All looks great, except for the fact that I only got ONE Blu-Ray drive.  Seems I'm missing the second DVD drive.  I'd call and inquire, but I'm busy until next week.  I'd kinda like to have the Dual drives I paid for.

Chris,
I ordered the more expensive Incredible Bundle savings :Best of the Best".  Shouldn't this come with the 425 Watt supply ?

As stated in the original post, the only configuration to get it is the 3rd one, which is the DVD whatever bundle.

The Best of the Best only features the 8800GT which gives you the 375W power supply.

So unless you were able to configure the best of the best and get the GTX you won't be getting a 425W psu.

so it is
 
Ultimate Entertainment = 425w
 
or is it
 
Ultimate Entertainment + 768mb 8800GTX = 425w
 
?
 
According to the website it says 425w psu included in the Ultimate Entertainment package which has the 8800GT as a default.  i dont want to (am not willing to) buy the GTX

because clearly if you have to upgrade the configuration from a GT to a GTX then the "425Watt Power Supply Included" on the site isn't correct.  It should then read "425w With the purchase of this GTX"

I never understood why they just don't allow the user to pick PSU (425w costing more as an upgrade) and simply error out with a 375 psu / 8800gtx combination.
 
Everybody would be happy and there would be no confusion at all - you know what you selected...

I spoke with a rep on the Dell Chat and asked him
 
He said that I would get the 425w with the "Ultimate Entertainment Dual DVD and 3D Blazing Graphics: 425Watt Power Supply Included" package even if I had the default 8800GT video card.
 
That felt like a relief, though I want to make sure with ChrisM so I can understand his entire post
 
(I think the latter part of his post makes some people think that you have to order the GTX in order to get the 425Watt, which would contradict the website)
 
hope things smooth out, im gonna purchase within 20 days! so excited :D

I ordered the "Ultimate Entertainment" 420 XPS last week.  I chose to get the standard 8800GT video card, and delete the monitor and speakers.  Seemed like a great deal, and a good way to ensure getting the 425w PSU. 
 
The very first thing I did when I got the computer out of the box to crack it open and verify the 425w PSU.  It's in there.  The only strange thing i noticed was only ONE blu-Ray drive came with the system.  It states " Ultimate Entertainment, Dual DVD and Blazing 3D Graphics, 425Watt Power Supply Included!" 
 
I would guess any system ordered under the "Ultimate Entertainment" package would get the 425w PSU, but things seem very hit or miss lately.

Sweet, just finished chatting with an XPS support tech.  I'm getting a second DVD drive sent to me.  They were not sure what happened with the order, but were very helpful to resolve the issue.

Okay so I was told that yes you get the 425w with the "Ultimate Entertainment" package even if you get 8800GT as the website says.
 
Confirmed with Dell Chat rep and Dell-ChrisM.

yes but apparently its not the GTX that gives the 425w, its the Ultimate Entertainment package
 
it may make more sense that the GT and GTX require the 425w (as the GT has a min requirement of 400w and im guessing the gtx requires even more) in all systems, but as of now they only put in to the 425w psu in the Ultimate Entertainment

"Ultimate Entertainment" is the only way to get a 425w, period.
