OSD trouble with e6420 and XP SP3
Currently my organization purchased a whole bunch of Dell's newer e6420 to replace our older laptop collection. Sadly my organization still operates on XP SP3. We currently deploy our operating system via SCCM 2007 via advertising the task sequence out to a installation collection. The way I typically build a new laptop in our task sequence is I go to this site and download the coorisponding CAB file, then import that file to my driver collection and create a driver package, then using Apply driver package I select the corresponding Device and Model for my storage drivers (Intel Mobile Express RAID Controller).
For the life of me, I cannot get the e6420 to work. The machine boots via PXE just fine, and goes into the SCCM splash screen. It loads configurations, network settings and starts to load windows. after a few seconds the system just reboots. This has happens no matter what I do.
- I've swapped the 4k drive for a 512.
- I've tried ACHI, ATA, RAID controllers and switching in BIOS.
- I've updated BIOS to A05
- I've included and excluded all drivers (excluding storage drivers)
- I've built a new task sequence, and attempted to auto apply drivers from the set of storage drivers.
I am reaching a brick wall and wanted to see if anyone had any best practices when it comes to deploying Windows XP Pro SP3 to these e6420.
