I'm using backup exec vss in conjunction with the equal logic hit kit and vss to take snapshots. symantec has told me that if i don't explicitly say to use the hardware vss option, backups will only use the wndows vss by default. Is there a way to set windows server to use hardware vss by default if available instead of the windows vss? That is the only way apparently i can use automatic vss option in symantec to use hardware vss and failover to windows vss if the hit kit fails to take a snapshot.
