The easiest way to determine if the screen or GPU is at fault would be to connect an external monitor to the system. If the monitor screen shows no problems then you will have to replace the LCD screen in the laptop. If the external monitor has errors similar to the laptop LCD screen then the GPU is at fault and you would have to replace the motherboard.
