Laptop audio jack not working
My audio jack stopped detecting earphones and now only plays sound through the speakers. I’ve read many threads on this, removed and reinstalled the audio drivers, and updated them, but none of these solutions have worked. Do you have any other suggestions?

Click here for resolving audio issues with your system.
To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them. Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

Well Please let us know that there is any sort of physical damage on the audio jack area. May be your laptop fall down and it might damage the area or loses the area audio jack of your laptop. or you can try the different earphone or headphone and check if the issue is still or not.

@GauravSyst I just discovered that my headphones only work on my laptop if I plug them in before turning it on. If I unplug and plug them back in, the headphones stay silent and the sound plays through the laptop speakers instead.

@Poindexter01 Well Some laptops let you set jack behavior (e.g., “headphones” vs “line out”) in the audio manager. If it’s misconfigured, the system won’t auto-switch. So I will suggest you to check that by Open the Realtek Audio Console (or whatever audio manager you have) and see if there’s a jack detection option that got disabled.
