Laptop screen turns off automatically

I have Inspiron 13 5000 series laptop. Since recent Windows + Dell updates, it started behaving strange. The laptop screen turns off itself, although I am using laptop actively.  The laptop is still on and other program keep running. The screen will not wake up unless I press power button twice, first to make laptop go to sleep and then wake it up with second press.

I tried to change Power and Sleep settings by choosing Never to sleep. I tried creating a new power plan but it did not help either. I customized multiple options from Dell Power Manager Lite, but nothing is working.

Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

This issue may occur due to the power option settings. Please follow the steps below to check the power options.

  • Click on Start> Control panel> Power options.
  • Under 'Select a power plan' choose the option 'Balanced'.
  • Click on Change plan settings.
  • Change the 'Turn off the display' settings to Never both on battery and adapter.
  • Also check the time it takes to put the computer to sleep, you can either increase the time or select it as never according to your requirement.
  • Click on 'Save changes'.

Please check if the issue is reoccurring.

Hope this helps. Please reply for any further help.
