You could check in the webui to see if notification settings have changed. Without knowing the OneFS version, I don't have specific instructions. Being boot drives are pretty crucial to operation, I would recommend having Isilon Support check it out to make sure there isn't a problem with the alert system in general.
I am not sure how much time we would have with only 5% life left in a Boot Disk but it seems like the threshold for notification without having to log into the cluster would be set to something closer to 90% rather than with just 95%. Surely there is a way to change this? I don't want to get emails and phone homes at 95% as we don't setup disk usage to alert us at percentages that high. Just don't sound like best practice. Sure you have a secondary boot disk, but there have been times where both boot disk have had similar life wear.

The System will alert you with 5% wear life left, which is a CRITICAL Severity condition and a phone home will occur.
At 10% wear life, it's a WARNING Severity condition and NO alert or phone home will occur.

if you have "only" 5% life left it's still a couple of days or even weeks. more than enough time even if there are some Holidays in between

Weeks sound better a couple days... not so much. I will make note of both possibilities though.
