Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Boot problem - Stuck on Dell logo screen

Hi

Our Dell Inspiron 14z is stuck on the Dell Logo at boot up.

It ran out of Battery last night but has been on charge for over an hour this morning.

I can't press F2 F8 or F12 because it freezes at this point.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Joe.

Hi

All fixed with a replacement Hard Drive and SSD booster drive.  I'm pretty sure it was the SSD drive that was the problem, but the tech insisted on replacing the HDD as well, so full reinstall required.

Regards

Peter

Hi

The solution in the end was replacement of the SSD booster drive.  They also replaced the HD at the same time but it was the SSD that had caused the problem.

Cheers

I found my solution here:

http://es.kioskea.net/forum/affich-1300673-dell-inspiron-14z-no-inicia

- Turn on the computer and press f12 to enter the BIOS
- In the BIOS enter to Advanced and Sata ...
- You have three choices, where Intel is already chosen ... the change to AHCI
- You'll EXIT save all changes and reboot.
- Sign in BIOS again
- You repeat the above steps again but this time select Intel ...
- EXIT again to save all changes and reboot.

Dear Sir, I tried all the steps you mentioned none of that works. What should I assume at this point?

I faced the same problem. My Inspiron 14z 5423 stuck at the Dell boot logo and did enter into the bios. I dissemble everything to check for solution and the HDD is the main cause. I noticed that most people with the same laptop face the same problem. The original provided Hitachi HDD died even I seldom use my laptop. Been using the laptop for about 15 months.

I am facing the very same problem... how to resolve it?

It it really a hardware issue?

last time when I had the problem, I disassemble everything and check on each component. I swap the original HDD (mine was Hitachi) with my other HDD. Reboot and finally it enters the bios. Change the HDD with a new one and my laptop ran perfectly.
However I thought the Hitachi HDD is dying but it still ok so I used it as my external drive. I did replace back the same old HDD back into the laptop but it will freeze at Dell logo,
in my case, I do not know why the original Hitachi HDD makes my laptop freeze at startup.

Hi Saharsh,

I have got a similar problem as that was mentioned in this forum - my inspiron ultrabook 14z wouldn't go beyond the logo screen. And following the responses given here, I have removed the static electricity, then removed the battery, with no result. Now, I have removed the hard drive and started the laptop. I was able to go beyond the logo screen, so I have reset the BIOS. Then, I have reinstalled the hard drive and tried to restart the laptop. Again it wouldn't go beyond the logo screen. Please help me.

Thank you,

Chaitanya
